Aloe Vera - Centuries of Healing
By: Medicine Section
Remembering the large Aloe Vera plant that sat in our front hall is vivid still today. My mother trended to all the wounds and victorious scraps I received as a child with that same Aloe Vera Plant. I would watch her as she nursed it as she nursed us so many times before with those very leaves. Though the Aloe Vera Plant had many uses she would always break that leaf for my battle wounds.
The Healing of the aloe plant has been used over thousands of years and many cultures have used them for healing as well as beauty like the ancient Egyptians, Romans and even the Chinese. In the year 333BC Aristotle convinced Alexander the Great to take over the island of Socotra for its Aloe Vera. It is said he used it to heal all of his wounded soldiers!
Aloe Vera has been used to treat things like:
-
damaged skin
-
fight infections
-
minimize scars
-
reduce pain
-
slow the aging process
-
Moisturize the skin
-
heal burns
-
treat IBS
-
Treat Colitis
Aloe Vera is also known to detoxify the body and can be used as a drink as well as applied to the outside of the body!
The International Aloe Science Council gives the certification of products that claim to contain aloe. However they find that most of the products that claim to contain aloe only contain trace mounts just enough to keep their validation. The healing of aloe works in larger quantities so it is smart to get your own Aloe Vera plant to truly get the proper effects of the Aloe. There are no known side effects to date in the use of aloe. It provides you with an all natural healing without the dangers of modern medicine. There are not many others that have this amount of power and no side effects. Teaching the use of aloe Vera to your children is wise and with the rise in alternative medicine to show them how to use it!
Aloe Vera has 12 vitamins including vitamin A, b1, b6, b12, and vitamin C it also has a vast amount of essential minerals and nineteen amino acids. Aloe Vera can be ingested and used for external problems. The list below will give you a much better picture on its broad range of uses:
