Taking care of your Body and its Weapon

The Immune system is a great weapon. It defends your body regularly and when it isn’t working properly your body suffers. The immune system fights of bacteria, fungal infections and other hazards to your body. When a micro organism invades your body and is not supposed to be there your body’s immune system is alerted. The immune system protects it by producing antibodies against the organism that is invading to destroy it.

There are many types of problems with the immune system and are divided into categories. There are four categories the first one is Immunodeficiency disorders. The Immunodeficiency disorders can be acquired or the primary.

In many immunodeficiency disorders there are several signs however symptoms are varied depending on what type you have. Some signs of Immuno-disorders are:

  • Having poor response to treatments
  • Some infections like: reoccurring fungal yeast infections
  • Delayed recovery from illnesses.

There are a few tests they can give you to see if you have an immunodeficiency disorder. Like:

  • T Lymphocyte count
  • White blood cell count

The Second category consists of Auto-immune disorders. Which cause the immune system to attack itself instead of fighting off things that invade it.

There are many risk factors of Auto-immune disorders and though they are not sure just what causes it here are a few things to look out for:

  • Environmental toxins
  • Viruses (only certain viruses)
  • Some drugs-Prescribed
  • Heredity

Some things to play a roll in getting an autoimmune disease:

  • Stress
  • Poor diet
  • Lack of sleep

These things along with other factors can create an autoimmune disorder.

The Third one is when the immune system over reacts to an antigen and this is called an allergic disorder. There are many forms of allergies and some of the symptoms are:

  • Redness of eyes
  • Water eyes
  • Rashes
  • Swelling of area affected
  • Sneezing
  • Hay fever
  • Rapid breathing/difficulty breathing

Allergies cause all kinds of symptoms and if you show any symptoms you should talk to your doctor. There are several things used to treat allergies and thousands suffer each day from allergies.

The fourth type is the cancers in the immune system. There are many forms of cancers that affect the immune system. Some are:

  • Leukemia’s
  • Multiple Myeloma
  • Lymphomas
  • Hodgkin’s disease

There are many signs and symptoms of immune system cancers as well like:

  • Fevers
  • Unusual infections
  • Headaches
  • Fatigue
  • Swelling in the belly
  • Swelling in the lymph-nodes: armpits and neck

Though the immune system is a great tool to help us fend off disease it too can be un-controlling. By taking proper care of yourself, getting enough rest, less stress and staying physically healthy you can help your body function better to take care of you.
